Description of Workshop

Join us for Isabel's Guided Up-cycling workshop, where you'll learn essential sewing techniques to elevate your sewing and up-cycling skills. In this hands-on session, you’ll master cutting and assembling pattern pieces, operating a sewing machine, and adding functional details like pockets. Whether you're just starting or looking to refine your skills, this workshop will give you the confidence to tackle future projects easily. Essential materials are provided, but feel free to bring your fabrics, ideas, or projects to personalize your vest or any project you want to work on. This will be a chance to learn fundamental sewing techniques to help you in your creative journey. 

A few words about the instructor:

Isabel Powers is a TMU fashion design graduate who is passionate about sustainable fashion and upcycling. Her work focuses on transforming waste materials into unique, wearable art. She will teach you the fundamentals of sewing while encouraging creative expression and a love for sustainability. Isabel will guide you in exploring techniques to elevate your skills and help you create more functional designs.

Workshop Overview:

  • Meet fellow sewing enthusiasts and learn the basics of making your designs from scratch.
  • Practice essential skills such as cutting fabric, assembling pattern pieces, and using a sewing machine.
  • Explore advanced techniques like using bias tape for clean edges and attaching pockets.
